Why from the heart?

Mission of the heart is a nonprofit organization established on november 13, 2013 that was created from the heart by volunteers dedicating their time and talent to start the foundation. On October 22, 2013, our founder, Sandra M. Duque, had a feeling in her heart to start something that, at that time, she thought might’ve been impossible due to her medical condition; However, 3 days later, on a plane ride to philadelphia, she felt another feeling that words couldn't explain. Duque had the will and desire to bring this idea to life and knew that it was a call from god! She was willing to do everything in her power to fulfill this calling.

She grabbed her blue notebook and started drawing a heart. Ideas began flowing in her as she jotted down every thought running through her mind. Before landing, she wrote one final thing: MISSION OF THE HEART. Getting off the plane, she contacted a friend of hers and asked, "juli, can you please investigate what needs to be done to create a non-profit organization?" by her flight back to miami the following day, October 26, 2013, Juliana had all the paper work and necessary steps to create a 501c3 organization in the United States.

On October 31, 2013, Duque had to go to the er for medical reasons. She had begun feeling discomfort after a mammogram and had to visit many specialists to find out the reason behind the pain. During that period, every time Duque felt pain, she immediately swapped that pain for an idea. While going through her medical difficulties and being committed to an 8-5 full time job, Duque wrote down the names of friends and people she knew and started sharing her new found vision that is now Mission of the Heart today. She began meeting with others, on her free time, that were willing to volunteer their time and effort for MOH. With her various contacts and passion for helping others, on November 13, 2013, MOH was officially established, and on December 19, 2013, MOH was recognized as a non-profit organization. The seemingly impossible had been made possible.
